Government Property & Litigation Lawyer

Locum Contract - Full Time 6 months+

Rate - £31 PAYE or £43 Umbrella per hour

Annual equivalent of £61,200 - £65,000k

South London, Hybrid-Working (60% office presence)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced UK Qualified (Solicitor or Barrister/Equivalent) Property Litigation Lawyer to join a Central Government Organisation. My client is looking for a passionate individual who has extensive knowledge and experience of Property Law and other Civil litigation matters.

Candidates who also have some experience of probate law (including contentious probate) and / or Freedom of Information and data protection law would also be welcomed, as would candidates who have some experience of company law and/or intellectual property law

Key Responsibilities of the Property and Litigation Lawyer:

  • To have a mixed case load of matters, including Property matters and a broad range of property litigation and other civil litigation
  • Drafting and sending suitable correspondence in reply to enquiries received from lawyers and unrepresented parties on a broad range of property matters including in relation to enquiries about freehold and leasehold land (including enquiries about title to unregistered land)
  • Conduct a wide variety of matters making decisions about case progression (liaising and seeking views from senior colleagues where necessary).
  • Ability to draft instructions to Counsel from time to time, to liaise with Counsel and to draft witness statements if necessary.
  • Familiarity with electronic case management and ability to keep electronic files in good order with all correspondence and documents filed as necessary.
  • Ability to manage a high case load whilst maintaining a good working relationship with team colleagues.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • MUST be A Qualified Solicitor or Barrister within England & Wales : 2 Years PQE +
  • Extensive knowledge of Property and Civil Litigation
  • Excellent communication skills to deal with clients and parties from a variety of backgrounds
  • Experience of a busy litigation caseload, with considerable autonomy
  • A good drafting and written ability
