DEBT PARALEGAL - NEWCASTLE

The Debt Paralegal will play a crucial role in the debt recovery process, handling a range of responsibilities that include:

- Recovering debts and negotiating payments and settlements.
- Assisting in the issuance of court proceedings, enforcements, and bankruptcy petitions.
- Maintaining regular contact with clients, providing updates on case statuses.
- Engaging in regular telephone contact with courts, solicitor firms, debtors, and agents.
- Instructing and liaising with court advocates.
- Managing file opening, closure, and ongoing administration, including updating the case management system.
- Performing scanning, photocopying, and general document management.
- Ensuring client and matter records are maintained in line with firm procedures.
- Assisting fee earners with various tasks and other ad-hoc administrative duties.

The ideal candidate will have:

- At least 12 months' experience in a legal or professional services environment
- Knowledge of debt recovery or credit control procedures
- Familiarity with the litigation process and experience handling a litigated caseload
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work and meet conflicting deadlines.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- A flexible and proactive approach to supporting fee earners within the unit.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
