Legal advocacy is the systemised way to challenge abuses of rights based on the laws that are either absent or weak or pertaining to laws that prove the violation. Advocacy can include encouraging the law-making authorities to create a law for preventing the violation or discrimination of rights. This also involves calling for the abolition or amendment of laws that are being abused. The different kinds of methods used for legal advocacy are strategic litigation which is also known as impact litigation, working through the legislature to amend existing laws or make new ones, and legally representing the claimants or victims with grievances.
Legal Advocacy Jobs’ Responsibilities
The responsibilities for different kinds of advocates can slightly vary depending on the practice area but the main duties are more or less the same. They are required to answer the questions of their clients and provide legal insight regarding their issues. They prepare memos or reports for the court hearings. They review the documents and records on behalf of the clients to ensure relevant and useful information is shared. They give advice on legal matters. The family advocates offer individual and group counselling for juveniles. The regulatory advocates advise on investigations, interpret the rules and regulations, liaise with outside counsel, and provide contractual and non-contentious legal guidelines.

Extensive and updated legal knowledge and practice skills are essential for Legal Advocate jobs. Attention to detail is required for meticulously understanding a case and ensuring that the contracts and other documents are drafted in a proficient manner. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are needed for the advocate positions to interact with all kinds of clients, colleagues, and legal representatives. Research and analytical skills are important for finding solutions to legal matters. Team players with the ability to work under pressure and manage time/tasks better fit in the advocacy roles.
